Science: Volcanoes

Here Hoang is standing with a piece of Basalt (lava rock). These rocks are very heavy and we predicted it's because of the metal which came with it to the surface of the earth. Some of the students also found Basalt around the school. What does that mean about volcanoes and our area, Manurewa? The students worked on developing their ability to write as scientists and this also included labeled images. If you want to have a look at the Basalt we have in Room 10, then please come to have a look. We also looked at the connection between the Ring Of Fire and earthquakes.
