Some More Information About Volcanoes
Hi whanua and students. The image on the right displayed on this post indicates how the students used coordinates to find volcanoes across the Pacific Rim. A few thing they have noticed was:
1. A lot of the volcanoes take place on coastal areas.
2. New Zealand is part of this area.
3. This area is called the Pacific Ring Of Fire.
4. 75% of the worlds volcanoes happens in the Pacific Ring Of Fire.
5. A lot of the volcanoes are active for example: here in New Zealand we have White Island and Mt
Ruapehu.
6. We will notice that the countries which are in the Ring Of Fire have a high chance of earth quakes for example, Japan, Chili and New Zealand.
7. In extreme case some of the countries were hit by tsunamis set off by earth quakes out at sea for example the tsunami which hit Japan in 2012.
You can also see an example of a labeled image (volcano and layers of the earth).

You MUST include pictures with you information. See whether you can find any information on some government websites. Please post this in your google doc home study folder. If you have any questions, please ask and I will assist you. Enjoy the task guys.
